Goals and Objectives to Fulfill Our Mission

The Rutherford Police Department has established the following goals and objectives in order to provide the community with the level of police services it demands and the level of safety it expects.

GOALS:

• Provide a highly motivated and competent work force.
• Continually review and update policy and procedures to reflect legal issues and changes as necessary.
• Look to increase training and look at it as an investment in the future of the department.
• Take advantage of opportunities to become involved in all segments the community (athletics, youth groups, seniors, business associations etc.)
• Plan to address the future needs of the department- services, staffing, facilities, equipment and technology.
• Strive to create and maintain a safe environment for the Citizens of Rutherford.

OBJECTIVES:

• Use a proactive approach to crime and the problems associated with crime, in which we emphasize public safety and prevention first.
• Create a mindset that emphasizes the “business” of public service. We are selling a “service” and seek a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Create a better quality of life for all residents, visitors and guests to the Borough of Rutherford.
• Increase traffic enforcement and driver safety education efforts to better manage traffic volume.
• Use drug education and a positive public image as a preventative investment in out future.
• Build citizen trust in our programs and personnel.
