RUTHERFORD BOARD OF AESTHETICS CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY

The Rutherford Board of Aesthetic Review recently celebrated Arbor Day in Lincoln Park. A flowering crab tree donated by the Rutherford Elks was planted in memory of Helen Mathies. Helen was the former President of the Board of Aesthetic Review. Helen would lead the Board of Aesthetic Review in the tradition of reciting the poem Trees by Joyce Kilmer. This tradition has been taken over by Captain George Egbert whom recites the poem at the annual ceremony since Helen'’s passing. The Board of Aesthetic received a Proclamation from Rutherford Mayor John Hipp urging all residents to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands and to plant trees to gladden hearts and promote the well-being of present and future generations.
